How To Get Lash Bond Off

The Lashify® DIY Lash Extension System is known for being the only at-home lash system that lets you Be Your Own Lash Tech™. With Lashify, you can have the salon lash looks you love without ever leaving your house and without risking damage to your natural lashes.

Part of the reason the Lashify system is so successful is the way we adhere our Gossamer® lashes to your natural lashes. Not only do we use Underlash Technology™, which allows your Gossamer lashes to adhere beneath your natural lashes, but we also don’t use lash glue, magnetic liner, or tape-like adhesives. Instead, we use Bonds.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about what Bonds are, how they work, and how to get Lash Bonds off of your natural lashes and your Gossamers if you experience build-up.

What Are Bonds?

Bonds are what we use to attach your Gossamer lashes to your natural lashes. Gossamers aren’t like strip lashes or lash clusters; they’re like a hybrid.

Each Gossamer has multiple lash fibers attached to a weightless spine that is just a few millimeters long. Gossamer lashes are 100% cruelty-free and hypoallergenic.

Using a heavy lash glue would weigh down the spine and your natural lashes, so we opted for Bonds. Our Bonds are formulated without any formaldehyde or cyanoacrylates, which are found in nearly every lash glue on the market, including the ones your lash tech uses.

Bonds are formulated with biotin and lavender to help support natural lash growth. Our Bonds also never fully cure, which means they remain pliable, allowing your Gossamer lashes to bend and flex with your natural lashes to prevent breakage.

We have several different Bonds that work with all of our Gossamer lashes

Whisper Light Bond™

Our most popular Bond, Whisper Light, is available in a dual-sided package or a single-sided package. The dual-sided package contains Whisper Light in both black and clear, so you can get the application you need without adding color or with a little extra depth. The black side has a mascara spoolie, and the clear side has a precision tip for more focused application.

Whisper Light is also available in a single-sided tube with a precision applicator in black or clear. If you receive your Bond through your Control Kit™, you’ll get the Whisper Light Dual-Sided Bond.

Whisper Light also features Micro-Flex™, which allows the Bond to bend and move with your Gossamer lashes.

Bondage® Extra Strength Bond With Charcoflex™

Lashify Gossamer lashes are designed to be worn for up to 10 days with proper care, but if you plan to go the distance with your lashes, we recommend Bondage. Bondage is an extra-strength Bond that features Charcoflex, our proprietary blend of absorbent charcoal that resists moisture and bacteria and allows your lashes to stay in place longer.

Bondage is also a great way to help your Gossamer lashes withstand heat during the summer months. Charcoflex allows your lashes to move and bend without breaking, so your natural lashes don’t become damaged while you wear your Gossamer lashes.

How Do Bonds Work?

Bonds work by keeping your Gossamer lashes attached underneath your natural lashes, close to your water line. To use your Bonds properly, first begin with clean lashes. Your lashes should be free from makeup, and dirt and natural oil should be cleansed from your lids.

Apply

Using your favorite Bond, apply a thin layer to the underside of your lashes. Focus on the roots of the lashes and avoid pulling Bond up through the ends of your lashes, which can make them look clumpy.

If you’ve ever used a lash glue before, you’ll find that Bonds work differently. First, you won’t need more bond to get your Gossamer lashes to stay in place. Less Bond is ideal for getting your Gossamers to hold and feel comfortable and lightweight.

Second, you do not need to apply your Gossamer lashes before the Bond dries. In fact, you’ll need to wait before you attach your first Gossamer.

Wait for Bond to Become Tacky

When Bonds are applied to the natural lash, they become tacky within about 30 seconds. The foolproof way to determine if your Bond is tacky and ready for Gossamer application is to try to blink a few times. If your upper lashes try to stick to your bottom lashes, your Bond is tacky, and you’re ready to apply your Gossamer lashes.

Once the Bond is tacky, you can adhere your Gossamer lashes using whatever Fusing method works for you and using the lash map you love most.

How Do I Get Lash Bond Off?

From time to time, you might experience a little clump of Bond in your natural lashes or attached to your Gossamers. This is nothing to worry about. Because of the gentle formula, you can easily remove excess Bond with these easy steps.

Removing Bond from Gossamer Lashes

If you’ve got a buildup of Bond on a Gossamer, you can remove it with a little Melt Away Remover. Melt Away is our dual-phase, oil-based makeup remover that helps you easily glide Bond off your Gossamers and your own lashes.

Dip a clean spoolie in Melt Away and run it through your Gossamer lash to gently remove the build-up of Bond. If the Bond is adhered to the Spine of your Gossamer lash, gently rub the Spine between your thumb and forefinger to roll off the excess Bond.

Removing Bond From Your Natural Lashes

You’ll remove Bond from your natural lashes in the same way you remove it from your Gossamer lashes. Using Melt Away or any dual-phase, oil-based makeup remover and a clean spoolie, swipe through your natural lashes to remove the Bond.

If additional Bond remains, add Melt Away to a clean cotton round and soak your lashes in the cotton round for 30 to 60 seconds. This should loosen the bond and allow it to come off easily.

Bonds are strong enough to keep your Gossamer lashes firmly affixed, but they won’t give you trouble when it’s time to remove. If you have attempted to remove your Gossamer lashes from your natural lashes, you can also try Release Lash Remover

Release works to break the bonds between your Gossamer lashes and natural lashes, allowing you to slide them off easily.

Lashify for Life

If you aren’t using the Lashify system yet, what are you waiting for? Stop spending all your free time with your lash artist and trust the only DIY system that really works. Getting started with Lashify is easy. You just need to add the Lashify Control Kit™ to your cart.

Each kit contains:

  • Two sets of Gossamer lashes. Pick two from our Curl, Amplify, or Bold collections. Using Lash Maps can help you create fully customized looks. These Gossamer lashes build the foundation of your lash wardrobe, but they definitely won’t be the last Gossamer lashes you purchase. We strongly recommend additional storage so your Gossamer lashes are always in their place and protected.
  • Fuse Control® Wand. No more tweezers or fingertips. The Fuse Control Wand makes application a breeze. You can use the Petit Curve Wand if you have smaller hands or a smaller eye area to work with.
  • One set of Wandoms®. Don’t be a fool, protect your tool. Your Fuse Control Wand gets the glove for more love with Wandoms. Wandoms protect the ends of the Fuse Control Wand so that your Gossamer lashes don’t stick to the ends during application. Remember, Bonds don’t fully cure and get a little tacky. Wandoms keep everything safe and stress-free.
  • Whisper Light Bond™. Our most popular bond, this dual-sided adhesive has a black end and a clear end. This dual-sided bond is perfect for application and touch-ups and never leaves behind a sticky residue. Whisper Light won’t clump, and you only need a small amount. If you apply your Bond and your lashes look wet and feel heavy, it’s a good indication you’ve applied too much.
  • Glass Finishing Coat. The perfect sealer for getting long wear out of your lashes. You don’t have to seal your Gossamers, but Glass is a great solution if you do.
  • Samples. You’ll get a sample of Pre Cleanse and Melt Away in each Control Kit. Pre Cleanse is our Japanese Cleansing Water that helps remove dirt and oil from your lashes and lids. It’s powerful yet gentle enough to be used as an all-over facial cleanser. Melt Away is our dual-phase, oil-based makeup remover that helps you easily slide your Gossamer lashes off of your natural lashes without damaging them.

Everything comes wrapped up in a protective hard case with a mirror to help you apply your lashes like a pro.

Bond Off

Bonds are safe and effective for Gossamer application. They’ll never leave you feeling goopy, and they aren’t hard to remove if you have the right tools for the job.

Bonds are just another way the Lashify system is different from other at-home lash systems, and you’ll love how easy they are to use and remove.
