The Dos and Don'ts of Sleeping With Lash Extensions

The Dos and Don'ts of Sleeping With Lash Extensions

You just gave yourself a fresh, fluffy, flirty set of lash extensions that look amazing. After a hard day of being admired for your lengthy lashes, you finally settle down for sleep.

The next morning, you awaken to a lash-tastrophe. Your lashes are crumpled, hanging loose from the edges, adorning your cheeks, or even stuck to your pillow.

After you collect the pieces of your hard-earned money, time, and effort and release a couple of choice words, you’re probably ready to call your lash artist and beg for an appointment. Before you head back to the salon, let us give you the inside scoop on how to get professional-looking lash extensions at home that last overnight and beyond.

The Lashify™ DIY Lash Extension™ System was designed to let you Be Your Own Lash Tech™, allowing you to apply, wear, shower, and sleep in your lash extensions without losing your lashes or sanity.

We’ll tell you everything you need to know to get lashes that last through your wildest dreams.

First Things First

If you’re using drugstore strip lashes, you should know they usually aren’t designed to be worn overnight. Starting with the right lash system is essential if you want lashes that last. Lashify’s Gossamer® lashes are made to be worn for up to 10 days with proper care and re-worn numerous times.

If your lashes are designed to go the distance and you still aren’t able to sleep in them, it’s time to troubleshoot.

Tips for Sleeping With Lash Extensions

Depending on the type of lash extension you’re using, your extensions are either adhered to your natural lashes themselves or to your lash line. Either way, application matters. If you aren’t applying your lashes correctly, you’ll run into problems.

For Lashify Gossamer lash application, we recommend avoiding sleeping in your lash extensions until you’ve successfully applied your Gossamer lashes at least two to three times. This ensures you’re getting your lashes placed properly and you’re familiar with how they should feel when they’re perfectly in place.

Don’t worry. Lashify Gossamer lashes are easy to apply, and we have tons of tutorials to help you, as well as a special troubleshooting section for common issues. Once you’re applying your lashes correctly, there are a few key ways you can ensure they last overnight

Back Sleeping Is Your Lashes’ Bestie

Sleeping on your back provides the least amount of interference with your lashes, and it’s arguably one of the best ways to sleep for your spine, too. Trying to sleep on your back can seem impossible if you’re a stomach or a side sleeper.

There are ways you can try to train yourself to become a back sleeper, like blocking your ability to roll over with a pillow or sleeping with a rolled towel under your knees. If you can’t seem to stop yourself from rolling over, you can take a few additional steps to protect your lashes.

Upgrade Your Pillowcase

Cotton pillowcases are rough on your skin and your lashes. If you’ve ever woken up from a night of sleeping on your face, you know the telltale crease lines that tend to hang out on your cheeks until lunchtime.

Instead, opt for a pillowcase crafted from silk. Silk pillowcases create less friction on your skin and are generally better for your lashes, too.

Lashify’s Silk Pillowcase is made from 100% mulberry silk and designed to help keep your lashes intact, even if you find yourself doing barrel rolls overnight. It’s also hypoallergenic and safe for people with sensitive skin and eyes.

Strip Down Before Bed

You’ve heard it your entire life: remove your makeup before you go to sleep. Making sure you don’t have any eye makeup on is essential to protect the adhesives that help keep your lash extensions in place.

If you leave eyeliner or eyeshadow on your eyes, the oils in the products can slide onto your lashes and break the bonds between your lashes and the extensions, causing them to become loose.

Seal the Deal

Gossamer lashes don’t have to be sealed, but if you want to wear your lashes overnight, we highly recommend using a sealant like Lashify Night Line™ Sealer. This sealant can be applied after Whisper Light® Bond.

Apply it at the Spine Base of your Gossamer lashes, and avoid re-fusing your lashes after you’ve applied it. You can also use Night Line for touch-ups between applications.

Waking Up With Gorgeous Lashes

Despite your best efforts, sometimes you wake up with a loose edge or a detached lash. That’s okay.

It’s really easy to reattach a loose lash in just a few minutes. If you’re using a Gossamer lash extension, we have three methods we recommend: the re-fuse, the mini fuse, and complete removal and refusing.

Re-Fuse

If you have a Gossamer lash that is simply lifting away from your natural lash, a re-fuse will help. Simply take your Fuse Control® Wand and gently fuse your Gossamer lash to your natural lash using the reverse fuse technique

Mini Fuse

You can use the mini-fuse technique if your Gossamer lash has come partially detached. Apply a small dot of Whisper Light Bond to the Spine base and use the reverse fuse technique to reattach the affected lashes.

Remove and Re-Fuse

If you wake up with a completely detached Gossamer or a Gossamer that is hanging by one fiber, it’s best to remove the affected Gossamer lash and reattach it. Your Fuse Control Wand and a bit of Whisper Light are the best solutions for getting your Gossamer back in place fast.

Aftercare

Your Gossamer lashes don’t require a lot of work, but you can definitely get more wear from them if you practice good aftercare tips. We also have plenty of aftercare items like protecting your lashes while showering, avoiding certain makeup and facial cleansing products, and how to remove your Gossamer lashes when you’re ready.

If you tend to be a little rough on your lashes, then you should try Griptex.

Lashes That Last and Last

Lashify first revolutionized the lash industry by allowing you to create salon-looking lashes at home. Now, we’re revolutionizing it again by giving you lashes that last longer than ever. New Lashify Extreme2 Gossamer Lashes feature Griptex Technology™, an innovative new way to give your Gossamer lashes even more staying power.

Unlike regular Gossamers, the Spine base of E2 Gossamer lashes is flat and textured, allowing the Gossamer lash to interlock with your natural lashes for an airtight grip that allows even our most lengthy, curly, and dramatic lashes to last longer than ever.

To apply the E2 Gossamer lash, you’ll use your Fuse Control Wand to scoop underneath your lashes and reach closer to your waterline than you normally do. Once the Gossamer lash touches your natural lash, you’re ready to press in and attach another Gossamer. E2 can be worn alone or stacked with our Gossamer lashes; of course, you can always overlap them to create more volume.

Before you get started with any Gossamer lashes, you’ve gotta get your hands on the Lashify At Home Lash Extension System.

Stay In Control

You don’t need a lot of tools to get started with the Lashify system. Everything you’ll need (even if you plan to wear your lashes overnight) comes in our easy-to-order Control Kit.

Each Control Kit comes with:

  • Two sets of Gossamer lashes. There are thousands of ways to wear Gossamer lashes. Start the foundations of your lash wardrobe with two sets. Choose from Curl, Amplify, or Bold. You can also use them to create fully customized looks using Lash Maps.
  • Fuse Control® Wand. The wand that replaces your tweezers and saves you from ever needing to use your fingers. The Fuse Control Wand is ergonomically designed to work best for Gossamer applications. The Petit Curve Wand works best for smaller hands and faces.
  • One set of Wandoms®. Lashify Bonds contain no harsh chemicals and are never fully cured. That means they remain tacky during application. Protect your Gossamers from sticking to your Fuse Control Wand with Wandoms, coverlets that keep you from getting into sticky situations.
  • Whisper Light Bond™. Our most popular bond, this dual-sided adhesive has a black end and a clear end. Formulated with biotin and lavender to keep your natural lashes safe.
  • Glass Finishing Coat. The perfect sealer for getting long wear out of your lashes. You can apply Glass daily or as needed.
  • Samples. You’ll get a sample of Pre Cleanse in your Control Kit and a sample of Melt Away. Melt Away helps you easily break the Bonds between your Gossamer lashes and your natural lashes so you can easily slide them off and save them for their next wear.

Everything you need comes in one easy, convenient, and hard case to keep your tools and Gossamer lashes safe and ensure you always know where your lash tools are located.

Get Your ZZZs

Now that you’re in the know, you don’t have to worry about waking up with a lashy situation on your hands (or pillowcase). Sleep tight, knowing that your Gossamer lashes are being held tightly to your natural lashes.
