Can I Use a Lash Starter Kit on Sensitive Eyes?

Can I Use a Lash Starter Kit on Sensitive Eyes?

You’ve got a problem. You want longer, fuller lashes, but you’ve got uber-sensitive eyes. Just thinking about lash glues and lifting solutions is enough to make your eyes water.

Is it possible to get serious lash enhancement without getting red, itchy eyes? The short answer is yes, but you have to know where to look (no pun intended).

Together, we’ll talk about what’s inside traditional lash extensions that make them harsh on sensitive eyes and skin and what lash starter kits you can nab to keep your lashes looking luxe and your eyes healthy and happy.

Why So Sensitive?

You didn’t choose the sensitive eye life, but you’re definitely living it. Just walking through cigarette smoke or exposing your eyes to city pollution can bring you to a full stop. Sensitive eyes can happen due to underlying conditions or just your own genetics.

The truth is that everyone has some level of eye sensitivity; our individual triggers simply vary. Maybe a wood-burning stove causes your eyes to swell and water, or maybe it’s excessive wind or heat. No matter the cause, almost everyone experiences some sensitivity to lash glue.

What’s So Bad About Lash Glue?

To understand why your eyes don’t like lash adhesive, you need to understand what’s inside it. Almost all lash glues (including the ones used by professional lash techs contain two chemicals that can be incredibly harsh on both your eyes and the delicate skin of the eyelids.

  1. Formaldehyde. You read that right: That’s the same ingredient used for embalming. Most of the time, formaldehyde isn’t directly added to a lash glue. It occurs in the glue as the result of a chemical reaction between other ingredients. That means if your lash glue contains it, you won’t be able to see it listed on the ingredient list.

  2. Cyanoacrylates. This ingredient is the same super-sticky adhesive that gives super glue its super sticking power. You’re hard-pressed to find any lash glue that doesn’t contain it, and it’s bad for your eyes and your skin.

Both of these ingredients can wreak havoc on sensitive eyes. Just the fumes from the glue are enough to make some eyes water and swell, so having it applied close to your waterline on your individual eyelashes is a hard no.

What About Lash Serums or Lash Lifts?

If you’re avoiding glue, you might turn to lash serums or a lash lift as an alternate solution. Unfortunately, you’ll probably find yourself no better off. Only one lash serum has been approved by the FDA for lash lengthening, and that serum may cause your eyes to experience sensitivity, too.

Lash lifts don’t lengthen or add volume to your lashes. Instead, they curl your lashes upward, giving the appearance of a more open eye.

The lifting solution is similar to the perm solution you’d have applied to your hair at a salon. That solution usually contains ammonium thioglycolate, which is also referred to as “perm salt.”

This active ingredient keeps your lashes permanently curled (until they naturally fall out) and gives the permanent solution that classic, ammonia-like smell. Don’t worry. You aren’t out of options.

You can get salon-looking lashes at home without putting your eyes at risk of burning, itching, redness, and watering. The solution is Lashify™.

The Lashify Hypoallergenic System

Before we created Lashify, we knew we wanted it to be accessible to as many people as possible. That’s why our Bonds are ophthalmologist-tested and hypoallergenic. Our system was made for people with sensitive eyes and skin.

Our Bonds

Unlike lash glue, our Bonds contain no fumes, no cyanoacrylates, and no formaldehyde-releasing chemicals. Our Bonds never fully cure, allowing your lashes to bend and move as they normally do instead of becoming brittle and hard.

Lashify Bonds work more like nourishing lash serums. They contain biotin and lavender to help support your natural lash growth. Our users report that their natural lashes are healthier after using the Lashify system than before they started.

Our Gossamer® Lashes

Salon lash extensions can do more than just cause sensitivity. They can actually damage your natural lashes.

Individual lash extensions are applied to your natural lashes with lash glue that can cause them to become brittle and break before their natural life cycle ends. Not only does that mean you’ll be missing an eyelash in that spot for a few weeks, but the pricey lash extensions you just paid for are also missing.

A better solution is Lashify Gossamer lashes. Our lashes are completely cruelty-free and made from 100% Korean PBT silk. Our hybrid lashes don’t fit neatly into any pre-existing at-home lash categories. They can be best described as a cross between a strip lash and a cluster lash.

Each Gossamer lash contains numerous lash fibers attached to a weightless spine. The spine is attached to the underside of your natural lashes, very close to your waterline. This application method makes lash application incredibly easy, natural-looking, and super comfortable.

Our System

With Lashify, you really can Be Your Own Lash Tech™. Not only do you get great, salon-quality lashes at home for a fraction of the price and in less time than it takes you to dry your hair, but our lashes also last.

Unlike strip lashes or other at-home lash methods, Lashify Gossamer lashes are designed to be worn for up to 10 days with proper care. You can even wear them overnight.

If you’re looking for a starter kit that won’t send you to the eye doctor but still gives you great, long-lasting lashes, meet the Lashify Control Kit™. It contains everything you need to start with the Lashify DIY Lash Extension™ System, including two pairs of Gossamer lashes to begin building your very own lash wardrobe.

A Starter Kit That Won’t Make You Cry

Dry your eyes, and get ready for the at-home lash starter kit that gives you the ability to get the lash enhancement you love without any inconvenience or uncomfortable sensitivity.

Every Control Kit comes with:

Two Sets of Gossamer Lashes

There are so many options to choose from and styles that work for your 9-to-5 and for occasions when you need extra glam. Gossamer lashes are available in different lengths, shapes, and colors, so you can fully customize your lash enhancement based on your eye shape, occasion, or even your mood.

We also offer a pre-mapped collection that mimics winged liner — all the sultry look of winged liner with none of the messy application. The I-Line™ Gossamer is easy to apply and has a tapered edge that gives the illusion of the perfect winged liner.

Fuse Control® Wand

You can settle for tweezers, or you can make your life and lash application a whole lot easier with the Lashify Fuse Control Wand. Our wand is ergonomically designed to hug the curves of your lid and cheek and be comfortable in your hand, so applying your Gossamer lashes is a breeze.

If you have smaller eyes and/or hands, try the Petit Curve Wand, a slightly smaller version of our full-size Fuse Control Wand.

One set of Wandoms®

Remember that Lashify Bonds never fully cure, which means they become tacky during application to help hold your Gossamers to your natural lashes securely. Covering your Fuse Control Wand with a Wandom ensures that your Gossamers stick to your natural lashes and not the Wand itself.

Whisper Light Bond™

One of our most popular Bonds, Whisper Light is available in both clear and black. It’s perfect for giving your long-lasting hold without causing sensitivity. Whisper Light doesn’t fully cure, so your Gossamer lashes will move naturally with your eyelashes to prevent breakage.

Glass Finishing Coat

Your Gossamer lashes can go the distance, and if you want to wear them for an extended period of time (or overnight), we recommend adding a little Glass Finishing Coat. Glass seals your Bonds and adds a layer of protection to your Gossamer lashes to ensure they stay locked tight.

Samples

In addition to the hypoallergenic Bonds, our lash prep solution, Pre Cleanse, is also hypoallergenic and gentle on sensitive eyes and skin. You can also use it as an effective facial cleanser.

When it’s time to remove your Gossamer lashes, you can use Melt Away. Melt Away is our dual-phase, oil-based makeup remover that’s also safe for sensitive skin and eyes. It helps you easily side your Gossamer lashes from your natural lashes without pulling or tugging.

Everything comes packaged in a protective, mirrored hard case so you can store all your lash tools in one place.

No More Tears

Save those tears for another day. Lashify gives you the ability to use lash enhancement without getting into sensitive territory. Forget harsh lash glues and grab the hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist-tested system of lash enhancement that is safe for your eyes, skin, and your natural lashes.

Lashify gives you luxe lashes that are safe for even the most sensitive eyes.
