Makeup Tips for Heart Face Shape

Makeup Tips for Heart Face Shape

You’ve got a face shape like Reese Witherspoon. Your heart-shaped face may inspire love, but it can also inspire some seriously iconic makeup looks.

The beauty editors at Lashify® usually spend their time mapping out the latest lash looks and following eyelash trends, but they also have fabulous tips and tricks to help you get the most up-to-the-minute makeup trends, too.

Not sure whether you’ve got an oval, diamond face, square face, or heart? That’s understandable.

Experts say there are at least nine different face shapes, so determining which one you have might be a challenge. If you aren’t sure, check out this blog for a detailed guide on how to determine your face shape.

If you find out you’ve got a heart-shaped face, read on to learn how to accentuate your features best and add structure and definition where it’s needed.

Heart Face Shape Basics

People with heart-shaped faces have face shapes that are wider at the forehead and taper down through the jawline. Typically, heart-shaped faces will have a more pointed chin and slightly more prominent cheekbones than someone with a round face or oval face shape.

Heart-shaped faces are uber-feminine, and makeup techniques can help add a little more width to the jawline and more balance to the sides of the forehead. You’ll also use blush to accentuate the apples of the cheeks and highlighter to bring attention to the highest points on the face.

5 Makeup Tips for Heart-Shaped Faces

The best makeup tutorials are the ones that make you feel comfortable in your own skin and are easy for you to do. You can watch a thousand tutorials on contour makeup and still find that it’s just too much for your day-to-day.

These tips are designed to help you accentuate a heart-shaped face quickly and easily.

1. Heart-y Blush

Blush is quite possibly one of the best makeup products available. It can add a flush to your skin that looks youthful and radiant, give the appearance of lifted, more sculpted cheekbones, and even accentuate your bone structure.

For heart-shaped faces, focus your attention on the apples of your cheeks to make them rounder and fuller. Using your eyes as a guide, begin your application on top of your cheekbones, between the inner corner of your eye and your pupil. Following your cheekbone, and sweep your blush upward and outward until it meets the outer corner of your eye.

Avoid placing blush on your forehead and chin, which can make you look too flushed. It’s also smart to make sure you don’t get your blush too close to (or on) your nose, which can make you look like you have a cold.

2. Contour Like a Makeup Artist

Contouring is one of the most difficult parts of makeup application, but it doesn’t have to be. Instead of attempting to contour your entire face with numerous different colors of foundation, pick either a bronzer or a concealer that is about a shade darker than your natural skin tone.

Using the “3” method, trace your hairline beginning on your forehead just above the middle of your eyes, down through your temples, and sweeping inward beneath your cheekbone, in the hollows of your cheeks.

Next, sweep outward and along your jawline until you reach your chin. Blend your contouring product and focus the heaviest amount of color on your forehead.

Contouring creates shadows that help make a certain part of your face appear slimmer. For heart-shaped faces, this can help slim the forehead and bring more balance.

3. Highlight

Highlighting is the ying to the contour yang. Contouring creates shadows, and highlighter creates light and draws attention to certain parts of your face.

Using a highlighter, focus the application on the apples of your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, and the center of your chin. Avoid placing any highlighter on your forehead if you have a heart-shaped face.

Highlighting your nose, cheeks, and chin will help draw attention, create light in your midface and lower face, and help balance the width of the forehead. It’s also important to avoid using a highlighter that contains glitter. Instead, opt for a highlighter that contains light-reflecting ingredients (like mica) for a more natural look.

4. Make Your Eyes the Spotlight

Every face shape can highlight the eyes and draw attention to them. Eye makeup can make your eyes the focal point and help draw the most attention to the windows of your soul.

Because heart-shaped faces already have plenty of width in the midface, you don’t need to attempt winged eyeliner, which is difficult to apply and will lengthen and draw attention to your temples.

Instead, you can play up your look with eyeshadow that doesn’t extend past your lid. Focus on light reflective colors toward the brow bone, avoiding heavier colors that can cause the brow bone to look heavy. If you have a hooded lid eye shape, stick with two primary colors and blend them for a seamless, natural eye look.

For lashes, you could apply double coats of lengthening and volumizing mascara to get full, fluffy lashes that complement your face shape, or you could save time and use lash extensions.

5. Create a Lash Wardrobe You’ll Love

Eyelash extensions save you time by allowing you to skip mascara and even eyeliner. For heart-shaped faces, creating more length and volume is key.

We love the Lashify Tulip™ Gossamer® and Tulip Thick™ Gossamer. These lashes are the perfect balance of wispy and fluffy, which can be manipulated to create a spiky look or worn feathered out for a fan-like finish.

If you’ve never tried Lashify Gossamer lashes before, you’re going to love them. Everything about the Lashify DIY Lash Extension™ System is different from any at-home lash kit you’ve tried.

The Lashify Difference

We created Lashify to fill a gap in the marketplace. We wanted salon-quality lashes without having to spend hours of our time and tons of money at a lash salon.

The Lashify system has several key differences that set it apart from other at-home lash methods.

Our Gossamer Lashes

Gossamer lashes are made from 100% Korean PBT silk. Although they are effortlessly mink-like, they are completely cruelty-free

Gossamers are made like a cross between a traditional strip lash and a cluster lash, with each Gossamer containing multiple lash fibers attached to a featherlight Spine that measures just a few millimeters in length.

Each Gossamer lash is attached to your natural lashes using Underlash Technology™. This allows the weight of each Gossamer to be evenly distributed across several of your natural lashes and makes them more comfortable. Applying your Gossamer lashes beneath your natural lashes also keeps application easy and forgiving.

Our Bonds

Lash glues (both salon glue and at-home glue) can contain chemicals like formaldehyde and cyanoacrylates. These chemicals can irritate sensitive skin and eyes and cause lash extensions to harden on your natural lashes, making your natural lashes brittle and more likely to break.

Lashify Bonds work differently. They contain no formaldehyde or cyanoacrylates. Instead, they are formulated with biotin and lavender to help support your natural lashes while you wear your Gossamers. Many users report their natural lashes are healthier after switching to the Lashify system.

Our Bonds never fully harden, so you don’t have to worry about brittle lashes. Microflex™ technology allows your Gossamer lashes to bend and move with your natural lashes to ensure your natural lashes don’t break.

Getting started with Lashify is easy. You just need to grab the Lashify Control Kit™.

The Control Kit

We make it even easier to use the Lashify system by giving you everything you need in our fully customizable Control Kit. Everything you need is packaged in a hard protective case to keep your Gossamer lashes and your tools safe and conveniently located.

Each kit contains:

  • One set of Wandoms®. These tiny coverlets prevent your Gossamer lashes from sticking to your Fuse Control Wand.
  • Whisper Light Bond™. Dual-sided, this Bond never leaves behind a sticky residue.
  • Glass Finishing Coat. The perfect sealer for getting long wear out of your lashes. You don’t have to seal your Gossamers, but if you do, Glass is a great solution.
