Makeup Tips for Diamond Face Shape

Makeup Tips for Diamond Face Shape

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and your diamond face shape can be your best feature if you know how to creatively use makeup to highlight your seriously structured cheekbones and accentuate your jawline.

Knowing what your face shape is can be the key to understanding how to properly contour your face, use highlighter, and even apply blush. Researchers have identified nine different face shapes (including oval faces, round faces, and heart-shaped faces), and the diamond-shaped face is among them.

If you aren’t sure what your face shape is, that’s okay. The Lashify® team put together this easy-to-use, step-by-step guide to help you determine your face shape.

Once you’ve determined you’re definitely a diamond doll, check out these makeup artist-inspired tips to help accentuate your angular features, create balance, and make your face look flawless.

Diamond Shaped Face Basics

If you have a diamond face shape, the outline of your face will resemble a diamond. This means the widest part of your face will be through your cheeks. Your face will naturally taper through the forehead and jawline.

The key to creating balance and a more oval face shape will be to gently soften your prominent cheekbones and create width in your forehead and chin. It will be light work if you know how to properly contour, highlight, and apply blush.

5 Makeup Tips for Diamond Face Shapes

The best makeup looks are the ones that are easy for you to do and make you feel like a million bucks. Although you can watch thousands of tutorials, you won't want to continue using those techniques if you can’t properly apply makeup or if it takes too long.

These five tips are designed to help you make the most of your face shape and take you as little time as possible.

1. Blush Like a Pro

Blush is like the almighty universal power product in your makeup bag. Blush can add youthful radiance and a healthy glow to your skin, sculpt more defined and high cheekbones, soften angular edges on prominent bone structures, and even create a lifted look on aging skin.

Learning how to properly apply your blush is key. According to experts, your face shape is your guide for proper blush application.

If you have an oval face shape, you’ll apply blush to accentuate your cheeks, while people with a square face shape will apply their blush in a completely different manner to ensure they add volume and roundness to their midface.

For a diamond face, your cheekbones are already very angular and mark the widest point of your face. This makes your face shape perfectly suited for higher blush placement.

Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, beginning just under the outer corner of your eye and blending upward and outward toward your temple. This will highlight your cheeks but also create a visual illusion of more space near the narrow forehead.

2. Contour Gently

Contour makeup is what makeup artists use to slim noses, add volume to jawlines, and reduce width near the forehead. Face contouring isn’t incredibly simple, and if you attempt to contour your entire face, you could end up looking ruddy or like your skin is dirty.

A simple contour tip that is universally flattering for all face shapes is the “3” method of contouring facial features. Using a bronzer, foundation, or concealer about one shade darker than your natural skin tone, begin applying on the forehead near your hairline.

Start just above the outer corner of your eye and sweep down the temples and underneath your cheekbone. Move back outward toward your jawline and trace the jawline to the chin. For diamond face shapes, the majority of color should be underneath the cheekbone to create a shadow there that will cause the midface to appear narrower.

3. Highlight

You create shadows with contour makeup and light with highlighter. Use a highlighter to draw attention to the most prominent points on your face.

For diamond face shapes, you’ll apply highlighter on the apples of your cheeks but slightly inside your blush application, beneath the pupil of your eye. You can also add highlighter to your temple, the middle of your forehead, the bridge of your nose, and your chin.

Be sure to avoid using a highlighter that contains glitter, and instead, choose one that contains light reflective pigments, like mica. This will help you create light and an ethereal look.

4. Get Dramatic With Your Eyes

We would never accuse you of being overly dramatic, but we would encourage using dramatic eye makeup. The eyes make a great focal point for every face shape, and diamond face shapes can use the eyes as a tool to create balance and draw attention upward.

Try blending eyeshadow colors with neutral colors closest to your brow bone. Avoid darker colors at the brow, which can make your forehead appear smaller.

You can also add depth and dimension with eyeliner. If you aren’t great with a pencil or liquid, fake it with Lashify I-Line™ Gossamer® lashes. The I-Line collection is our first pre-mapped set of lashes that is designed to mimic the look of winged liner without actually having to apply liner.

Adding lash extensions is a great way to level up your eye look and save time in your makeup routine by avoiding mascara. If you’ve never tried lash extensions or afraid you’ll have to spend a lot of time and money with a lash artist, don’t worry.

The Lashify DIY Lash Extension™ System makes it easy for you to get the lashes you want at home.

The Lashify System

Lashify DIY lashes are different from any other type of at-home lash extensions system you may have tried.

Our Gossamer Lashes

Our Gossamer lash extensions are 100% cruelty-free and retain a mink-like feel. They are made from Korean PBT silk and are best described as a hybrid cross between traditional strip lashes and cluster lashes.

Each Gossamer contains numerous extension fibers attached to a featherlight spine base that measures just a few millimeters long. Each Gossamer is attached beneath your natural lashes, near your waterline, using Underlash Technology™.

This allows your Gossamer lashes to feel more comfortable and helps distribute the weight of more voluminous sets of Gossamer lashes evenly so one individual lash isn’t weighed down. Underlash application is also better for beginners. If you don’t get your Gossamer placed perfectly, you won’t be able to tell.

Our Bonds

Both salon lash glue and DIY lash glue can damage your natural lashes and cause irritation to your eyes and delicate eyelid skin. They contain chemicals like formaldehyde and cyanoacrylate, which are common ingredients found in superglue.

These ingredients also harden, causing your natural lashes to become brittle and subject to breakage. This is why many people with eyelash extensions end up with patches of missing eyelashes.

Lashify Bonds are formulated more like an eyelash serum, with nourishing ingredients like biotin and lavender. Bonds never fully cure, which means your natural lashes won’t become brittle and break.

They also feature Microflex™, a blend of ingredients that allow your Gossamer lashes to bend and stretch naturally with your lashes to avoid breaking.

The Lashify Control Kit™

It’s easy to get started with the Lashify system. We’ve put all the tools you need together in the Control Kit

Each customizable kit contains:

  • Two sets of Gossamer lashes. Pick two from our Curl, Amplify, or Bold collections. You can mix and match Gossamers or use one set by itself.
  • Fuse Control® Wand. Our Fuse Control Wand was designed specifically to handle our Gossamer lashes and feel comfortable in your hand.
  • One set of Wandoms®. These tiny coverlets protect the ends of your Fuse Control Wand so that your Gossamers don’t adhere to it. Bonds become tacky during application, but Wandoms ensure you never get into a sticky situation.
  • Whisper Light Bond™. Our most popular bond, this dual-sided adhesive has a black end and a clear end. This dual-sided bond is perfect for application and for touch-ups, and it never leaves behind a sticky residue.
  • Glass Finishing Coat. Gossamer lashes are designed to last up to 10 days with proper care. Glass Finishing Coat helps protect your Bonds and increase the lifespan of each application.
  • Samples. We include samples of two of our favorite products in each Control Kit. You’ll get a sample of Pre Cleanse and Melt Away. If you love them, come back and shop for the full-size products.

The Control Kit features a hard, protective case with a mirror for easy application and storage.
