What Does Lash Bond Do?

What Does Lash Bond Do?

Long, voluminous lashes are never out of style, and unless you won the universal lottery for eyelashes, you probably use some method of lash enhancement to get fuller, longer lashes. One method you might try is DIY lash extensions, especially if you’ve experienced lash damage from salon lash extensions.

The Lashify® DIY Lash Extension™ System was designed to give you full access to seriously full, luscious lashes at home without risking damage to your natural lashes or spending all your time and money on your lash game.

One factor that sets us apart is our lash adhesive formula and how you’ll adhere them to your own lashes. We’ll explain how we’re different, how Lashify Bonds work, and why you’ll never go back to lash glue once you’ve tried them.

Is Lash Glue Safe?

We all want fluttery, red-carpet lashes, and most of us will go to any lengths to get them, even if it means using products that aren’t necessarily safe for our natural lashes or the delicate skin around our eyes.

Unfortunately, the ingredients in lash glue are incredibly toxic and not at all safe for sensitive eyes. Lash glue (the type your lash tech uses and the type you get in most DIY kits) contains the same ingredients as super glue: cyanoacrylates and formaldehyde.

These ingredients are harsh on your natural lashes for a few reasons:

  • They’re drying. These ingredients dry out your natural lashes, removing natural oils and moisture.
  • They promote breakage. Eyelash glue typically hardens, which causes the natural lashes to become brittle and subject to breakage. This causes your natural lash to fall out before it’s supposed to, and when it falls out, it will also take any lash extension that is adhered to it along with it.
  • They can cause eye sensitivity. If you have sensitive eyes or skin on your eyelids, these ingredients can cause redness and irritation and possibly make your eyes water and feel irritated, too.

Lash glue isn’t a friend of your natural lashes, and even if you plan to wear falsies forever, there’s no point in damaging your natural lashes. Eventually, your natural lashes could become so damaged that you aren’t able to attach an extension to them.

What Are Bonds?

Bonds are not lash glues. Read that again. The Lashify system was developed to give you lash enhancements that are not just safe for your natural lashes but nourishing.

Our Bonds contain no cyanoacrylates and no formaldehyde, yet are every bit as effective at holding your Gossamer® lash extensions to your natural lashes as the strongest lash glue you’ve tried. In fact, many Lashify users feel that Bonds work better and hold longer than standard lash glue.

Bonds are formulated with lash-nourishing ingredients that make them work like a lash serum. They contain:

  • Biotin.Biotin is a B vitamin that is crucial for supporting healthy skin, hair, and nail growth.

Our Bonds are also formulated with Microflex™ technology. This special blend of ingredients remains pliable, allowing your Gossamer lashes to bend and move naturally with your natural lashes, helping avoid breakage and keeping them completely comfortable while you wear them.

Bonds Are Never Brittle

One of the biggest complaints lash glue users have is that it makes their natural lashes (and extensions) feel brittle and hard. Lashify Bonds never fully cure.

This means that they don’t become hard and brittle. This prevents your natural lashes from breaking off and taking your extension with them. Because Lashify Bonds don’t fully harden, they become tacky during application.

This is important for application and ensures your Gossamer lashes are fully bonded to your natural lashes. If you’ve never used a Lashify Bond before, the experience can feel different. Don’t worry. We’ll walk you through the how-to’s so you can get a perfectly attached Gossamer lash every single time.

How Do Lashify Bonds Work?

First things first, remember you aren’t working with lash glue; you’re working with your favorite Lashify Bond and your Gossamer lashes. Gossamers are built like hybrid crosses between lash clusters and strip lashes.

Each Gossamer lash contains numerous lash fibers attached to a weightless Spine base measuring just a few millimeters long. Bonds are applied to the underside of your natural lashes close to your waterline, using Underlash Technology™.

This application technique makes it much easier to apply your Gossamer lashes and keeps them completely comfortable. It’s also safer for the skin around your eyes. Lashify Bonds are hypoallergenic, so they’re safe for even super-sensitive eyes.

Less Is More

When working with Bonds, less is always more. If you’re using Whisper Light Bond™ Dual Sided, start with the spoolie end and sweep one coat of Bond through the base of your lashes.

Don’t pull the Bond through the ends of your lashes because this can make your lashes feel sticky and lead to clumping. Gossamers are attached to the base of your natural lashes, and that’s where you need your Bond.

Let It Get Tacky

It takes about 30 seconds for your Bond to become tacky once applied to your natural lash. This is a crucial part of the Lashify process. While you’re waiting for your Bond to become tacky, you can begin to set out your Gossamer lashes in the order you’d like to apply them.

For first-timers, it’s best to apply one set of Gossamer lashes without attempting to stack them. Once you’ve become a pro (which takes about two to three applications), you can start building new lash looks on your own or use our Lash Maps to help get the most popular styles.

Fuse

Bonds don’t take long to get tacky. Blink your eyes a few times to ensure your Bond is ready for Gossamer fusion. If your lashes feel a little sticky, they are ready for you to Fuse your Gossamer lashes.

To Fuse, use your Fuse Control Wand® to pick up one Gossamer lash. Using the Fuse technique that is most comfortable for you, adhere your Gossamer lash to your natural lashes close to your waterline.

You can use a full fuse or a reverse fuse. For a step-by-step guide to both, click here.

Seal

Sealing your Bonds and Gossamers is optional. Your Bond is strong enough to keep your Gossamer lashes in place for up to 10 days with proper care, but for beginners or protection against humidity, steam, and sweat, using a sealer is a great option that can help keep your Bonds safe.

Helpful Hints

With Bonds, less is more, but you can also use your Bonds to touch up a Gossamer that has come loose. Using the precision tip end, apply a small amount of Bond to your loose Gossamer to refuse it.

Always use Wandoms®. Wandoms are tiny coverlets that protect the tips of your Fuse Control Wand and prevent your Gossamer lashes from Fusing to your wand and not your natural lash. Because Bonds never fully cure, they will feel differently during application than lash glue.

Remember that their tacky feel is important for application and ensuring your Gossamer lashes stay in place.

Get Bonded

Getting started with Lashify is easy; all you need to do is head over to our website and build your very own customizable Control Kit

Each kit contains:

  • Two sets of Gossamer lashes. Pick two from our Curl, Amplify, or Bold collections. Adding additional Gossamer sets to your order will help you build your lash wardrobe and give you access to even more looks.
  • Fuse Control® Wand. The essential tool for applying your Gossamer lashes, the Fuse Control Wand is the only wand we recommend for Gossamer application. For smaller hands and faces, the Petit Curve Wand is the best option. The Birdie® is our travel-sized wand that makes application on the go possible.
  • One set of Wandoms®. We get you started with a set of Wandoms, but you can grab extra sets of Wandoms here.
  • Whisper Light Bond™. Dual-sided and easy to apply, our most popular Bond is easy to use and never leaves behind a sticky coat.
  • Glass Finishing Coat. The perfect sealer for getting long wear out of your lashes. You don’t have to seal your Gossamers, but if you do, Glass is a great solution.
  • Samples. You’ll get a sample of Pre Cleanse and Melt Away in each Control Kit. Pre Cleanse is our Japanese Cleansing Water that helps remove dirt and oil from your lashes and lids. It’s powerful yet gentle enough to be used as an all-over facial cleanser.
